Heated fields allow asparagus to grow more quickly

|

Plastic Pipes as heat suppliers

Spring is high season for the Rhine Valley asparagus farmers. To ensure the popular spring vegetable grows and thrives, the farmers are dependent upon warm temperatures. Because the weather in April is known to go haywire, local companies are increasingly dependent upon supportive measures.

An unconventional solution is also presented by asparagus farmer Fabian Kummer from Schmitterhof in Diepoldsau. Kummer heats his fields with the exhaust heat of a nearby industrial plant. To implement this ingenious idea, around 22 km of our supply pipes were laid on his fields.

Thanks to the warming support we can once again look forward to fresh asparagus from the region this year. We would therefore like to wish everyone bon appetit!
