Roadshow in China: Swiss Sustainable Building

In order to promote Switzerland as a reliable partner for sustainable development, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai worked together with Swiss companies operating in the construction and architecture industry, among them Jansen China, in the Yangtze Delta region to organise the 'Swiss Sustainable Building' roadshow at the Constructive Alps exhibition (for further details, see below). This series of events was developed in cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in China, the Swiss Business Hub, the Swiss Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai as well as Swissnex China.

The topics covered in the events touched on the following areas:

Sino-Swiss sustainable building
Sino-Swiss collaboration in the area of energy-efficient buildings
The practices and experiences of architects
The expertise of Swiss companies

The schedule comprises four dates: The first two roadshows have already taken place, during which the panel discussions shed light on the Sino-Swiss collaboration for sustainable construction. Two more events will be held in Suzhou and Nanjing by mid-December 2021.

At these roadshows, 'best practice' examples in major companies such as ABB, LAUFEN, Sika and SGS will be presented. Jansen China’s participation in the roadshow will help to highlight the sustainability of steel as a material, using the official topic of the roadshow as a basis. A wide range of supporting partners, including China (Wujin) Green Building Industry and the Jiangsu Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, will also take part in the roadshow.

'Constructive Alps' exhibition
The exhibition designed by the Swiss Alpine Museum in Bern and displayed for the first time in China showcases a number of award-winning projects that highlight aspects of environmentally friendly architectural solutions, the use of natural materials and respect for the landscape. The 'Constructive Alps Architecture' prize for sustainable construction and renovation projects in the Alps has been awarded for a number of years now. The buildings awarded this prize are excellent examples of how architecture can combine good aesthetics and environmentally friendly aspects harmoniously. This prize bridges international borders, helps to implement the Alpine Convention and provides thought-provoking impulses for a good life in the Alps.
