Not only the digital products, but also the digital processes – from background research to the design, construction and operation of buildings – must be optimally completed and matched.
This is where digital services provided by manufacturers could play an increasingly important role. In order to successfully contribute to a consistent BIM-based method for what are currently still mostly classical processes without consistent digital support, the six manufacturing companies Dormakaba, Hilti, Hörmann, Jansen, Schüco and Xella have founded the "productsforbim" manufacturer initiative.
The founding companies' aim is to achieve practical implementation of digital manufacturer information in order to drive digital processes for designers, assemblers, product manufacturers and the operators of buildings.
The new initiative will align itself with the German-speaking chapter of the buildingSMART organisation.
Additional advantages resulting from the manufacturer initiative:
- Provision of digital data and services
- Optimum positioning of manufacturer interests
- Information exchange across different industries
- Public relations work aimed at target groups
