Tangbei Villa, Suzhou
Exclusive living by the water
The new building on the shores of Dushu Lake near the megacity of Suzhou takes up the traditional basic form of the Chinese "courtyard house". However, it was realized as a symphony of steel and glass that celebrates living by the water rather than a house. With an all-round glazed atrium, its roof glazing, glazed lift and slide doors of enormous dimensions, folding doors of the same size, an internal glass partition wall with centrally integrated reversible doors and not forgetting the numerous single and double-leaf revolving doors, some of which are glazed to room height, this light-flooded building is an exemplary example of the successful use of Jansen steel profile systems in high-end residential construction. Even the necessary balustrades were made of glass to showcase the uninterrupted view of the water. The interior and exterior spaces appear to merge seamlessly into one another, connecting the house with the water and creating a unique living experience.
