Good fortune shared – happiness doubled
Jansen AG regularly supports social projects. The aim is to share our good fortune of enjoying a prosperous life in a privileged country with people who do not fare as well as us.
For five years now, we have supported Suisse-Togo, a non-profit organisation in West Africa dedicated to giving young people access to various forms of academic and vocational education. This cooperation with Suisse-Togo lies close to our heart, not least because the local Suisse-Togo team pours a huge amount of personal commitment into delivering a sustainable improvement in living standards.
Christmas donation 2018: the school that grows with its pupils
The savannah landscape in northern Togo is the least urbanised part of the small West African country. Its inhabitants live primarily off what they can grow on this flat grassland: cotton, maize, millet, beans and yams, using the simplest of methods. Schools are absent from many parts of this region and are often in poor condition or hopelessly overcrowded, with up to 100 pupils in each class.
After enabling the construction of a school for 350 children in the south of the country over the last five years, Jansen AG is now financing the building of a new school in north Togo. Children have benefited from attending a nursery school run by Suisse-Togo in the village of Sagbièbou in Togo's Savanes Region since 2010. Suisse-Togo is now building a complete primary school in the same village. In 2018, donations from Jansen AG enabled the school's first classroom to be built. It went into operation in September, perfectly timed for the start of the new 2018/19 school year. A new classroom will be added every year until the school has its full quota of six. In this way, the school could be said to grow with its pupils.
