JANOdur triplo seepage pipes for environmentally-friendly rainwater disposal

Six sevenths of all precipitation ends up in the sea. Only 1/7 falls on land. This 14% is of vital importance for human life and for the environment, since all life is based on the presence of water. So it makes sense to deal with rainwater sensibly.

The problems

Where settled areas are sealed off, a large proportion of rainwater and the water from melting snow is diverted straight into the sewers. This gives rise to the following problems:

  • Less groundwater can form
  • Increase in high-water peaks in the main outfalls
  • Extra loads on the sewer construction authorities and ARA (waterworks authority) due to clean rainwater.

According to the cantonal authorities, unsoiled waste water must be allowed to seep away (infiltration). If the particular local conditions do not permit this, it may - with permission from the cantonal authorities - be directed into an open body of water. At the same time, steps must be taken to ensure that as far as possible the water can flow away uniformly even where it occurs in large quantities.

Rainfall soakaways

The VSA directives for the General Water Disposal Plan (GEP) provide the basis by requiring a "Report on the state of seepage". Various cantons have drawn up recommendations for planning and manufacturing soakaways. Jansen AG offers new seepage pipes for the construction of rainwater soakaways.
